having made his label introduction with his remix of label newcomer villete�s �rillia-, darand land gets to spread out and show off his unique brand of euphoric and uplifting deep house on his debut ep for the label, �discover you�. the title track is classic darand land, with bright piano chords, buzzing organs and a thick chicago house bass line. siren-like pads fade in and out from the periphery, as electrifying percussion elements come into play. frank & tony take a turn and apply their signature style onto the former track, adding a chunkier kick with bright as day claps and hi-hats to propel the track through the opalescent haze draped over the melodic elements. on the flip, �marcela�s sense� is a blissed out, head down late night affair. cosmic pads swirl around glistening keys and repressed organ chords, as toms bounce among the steady hi-hat ride, lulling the listener into a state of euphoria. the ep closes out with the atmospheric, peak time detroit house cut, �souls awash-. a serpentine bass line runs the show amidst swelling pads and in-your-face kicks and percussion. as with all of his productions, the track shines in the smaller details that float in and out of focus throughout, lending the track�s weightier elements an even greater sense of gravitas.

after a considerable career releasing on numerous labels, as well as being co-founder of essen based label mild pitch, langenberg finally drops his first album under this alias. max heesen, (who is also one half of ribn with manuel tur) delivers the smartly titled central heated house for steve bug�s dessous recordings. the lp format suits langenbergs hypnotic house classicism well, allowing time and space to stretch out the grooves and moods over four sides of vinyl working both for the djs and perfect as a soundtrack for the autumn. the lp kicks off with jade, a melancholic, tape saturated introduction to langenbergs deep tastes. room 210 maintains this atmosphere, with fizzing percussion and warm detroit-esque melodies. groove 26 is perfectly timed for the hot summer, as lush rhodes chords and kdj style vocal snippets provide the heat for the openair vibes. the single from earlier this year shadows features the talents of vocalist blakkat, and caused some serious response when it hit airwaves and dancefloors alike. never worry is a heads down roller, built around a simple but perfectly executed bassline, while dreamliner is trippy laidback sunshine house all the way. ill be late and planitz proposal step back into the club, with langenbergs signature crisp percussion, crunchy hits and analog synth wizardry on full display. rain & roses closes out the album in a similar way to how it started wistful, thoughtful house music with soul.

kapote loves the funk. and he loves blaxploitation movies. the black underground cinema from the 1970ies. kapote samples dirty talk from these movies and puts it on his bass lines. melodic basslines with a heavy 1070 funk vibe. bass lines that can create a sexual tension. kapote adds a few warm, jazzy rhodes piano chords and a lot of reverbs and filtering. and the music rolls. often more like a jam then like a constructed piece of music. in the highest points this music is pure endorphin. it s 4 to the floor - but it has a soulful analogue sound. kapote says he was listening to records from old detroit label red planet and parisian downtempo pioneers motorbass and la funk mob while making this record. and yes, the vibe is there. like these guys kapote likes to build his musical trips around snippets from old funk vinyl. adding beats with vintage drum machines and creating an eclectic trip into a universe full of jazzy bits, noisy drums and dirty samples.

increasingly known for his productions as much as his storied dj sets, eric cloutier approaches the studio with the same kind of precision that marks out his club and festival appearances. on this first release on palinoia he exercises a keen sense of control over playful elements, not least on lead track -heuristic-. the nagging lead synth may hop around the mix, but it stays locked on to a thoroughly focused undercarriage of drums and low end that suits the professional techno set. -ipseity- is lighter in its demeanour thanks to some calming pad tones, but the strong structure of the track remains. the release rounds up with the slower thump of -opprobrium-, surmising cloutier s attitude to the warm-up part of a serious, long-lasting dj set.

it s not often that you get to see alan oldham stepping out under his own name. the legendary detroit artist is more commonly spotted as dj t-1000 (or designing iconic artwork for techno labels) but this time around he s sharing some more house-minded delights for finale sessions. -don t take me- is a haunting, mystical slice of deep house that fits into the finale narrative perfectly, while -wild- too offers up a distinctive approach that manages to be both refined and yet imbued with that detroit roughness. -breathe- may well be the best jam on the record, dealing in subtle threads of melody that conjure up the perfect dubby 4/4 confection.

hudd traxx first release of 2016 comes from parsian house don chris carrier after the label had a big year in 2015 with their 10th anniversary. back to business then and no messing around on this one as carrier delivers 4 slices of gloriuosly crafted house music with something to please everyone. cycle psycho is a raw house groove that filters the main hook up and down throughout the track accompanied by heavy beats reminscent of early cross section releases. dimension 5 is a cheeky acid number that carrier has done so well in the past and he delivers here once again with this. flip for the b side and find more groovy head nodding material with smoke and flesh. tough beats and a trippy vocal with various hits make this one a sure fire future hit. chris rounds things up nicely on b2 with a sleezy deep one for the heads entitled flying sausage.2016 looks set to be another good one for hudd traxx hq.
